Hello Lovely,

Hope you’re having the best week ever! I just wanted to take a few minutes of your time to share with you ten of my favorite beauty tips for sensitive or dry skin. Yes, I have sensitive skin and many times its very dry skin. I view it as is a blessing that sometimes feels like a curse.

I word it this way because it helps me to see the blessing in the sometimes, annoying reality of having sensitive skin. I can’t just use anything and everything I want on my skin. The consequences are just not worth it. My overexcited friend(s) can beam over their new favorite lipstick that looks amazing on. However, when I try it, all of a sudden my lips feel like they have just received what I can only closely relate it to, as a minor chemical burn.

Their favorite mascara may irritate my eyes. Glittery eyeshadow? Forget it, my eyes can’t handle it. Everyone has their own unique body chemistry. So everyone’s skin reacts differently. Having sensitive skin is a limiting inconvenience, but it is also a blessing because it forces you to be very mindful of what you put on your skin.

It teaches you to readjust your product choice based on how your skin reacts to the product line and its ingredients. The upside to taking extra care of my skin has led to having healthy happy skin.

Skin Biology Anti-Aging

Skin biology products birthed in around the wound healing studies by Dr. Loren Pickart also the founder of skin biology.

Dr. Pickart noticed that certain skin cream are better at producing beautiful and healthy skin structure.

Skin biology is a copper peptide-based products used for anti-aging, skin smoothing, age spot removal, scar tissue resurfacing and getting rid of stretch marks and skin tags.

It is also used in skin needling for it helps in removing scar tissue and wound healing.

I like to use it for anti-aging, hypopigmentation, and scar resurfacing both for my clients (skin needling) and for myself.

Skin Biology is unique for its skin remodeling so less is more.

The new underskin will rejuvenate before the outer layer of skin has time to turn over (slough off).

To balance this process out, it is best to apply LacSal every night before bed and then apply copper peptide-based products every third morning for the first few weeks then move up to applying copper peptides every other morning.

They have an Eye cream that is for sensitive skin that is also a peptide-based product.

If you have further question you can contact them directly Skin Biology is great at answering questions and offering the best advice.

They are a little old school in their mailing items out and it has taken up to two weeks or longer to receive my orders so I order mine through Amazon when I can just because it is quicker and I  have an amazon student prime membership.

So I receive free shipping on prime orders.

Quick Tip:

Amazon Prime offers a 30-day free trial And if you are a student, Amazon Student Prime is offering a SIX month free Trial (at the time of this writing). However,  if you own a business. Amazon also offers a FREE Amazon business account with some pretty cool and useful perks (at the time of this writing). So if you get a chance click on the pretty pink links above to check out the perks and see if its a good fit for.

My favorite products by Skin Biology are:

  • CP Ulitmate eye cream
  • Super Copper serum
  • LacSa
  • Perfect lift – copper peptide for the decolletage (neck & upper chest)
  • Super Cop 2x– The best choice for extremely difficult to improve blemishes. Fades the look of age spots, stretch marks, stretch marks, smile lines, and deep wrinkles. Used by models and actors who need the closest to perfect looking skin.
  • Folligen is excellent for growing hair back. I have used it on my eyebrows and eyelashes. I usually use a q-tip for the brows results vary depending on why the hair is missing but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the results. And I use an eyeliner brush for they eyelashes

For my lashes, I apply folligen like I would cake eyeliner, light and very thin along the eyelash line. You want to avoid getting it into your eyes. My lashes grew longer and thicker within a couple of weeks.

you can also use folligen shampoo and cream rinse to grow your hair thicker. Avoid placing folligen anywhere you do not want the hair to grow.

Skin Regimen:

In the morning cleanse face, then use toner.

For under the eyes use Skin biology sensitive eye cream (less is more).

For the face you can use Copper peptide Serum on the rest of your face, then your normal daytime face cream or lotion.

You want to use the copper peptide eye cream and serum every three days for about 3-4 weeks then work your way up to every other day.

In case you get confused which products are the copper peptides, it will be the light mint green through green products the serum sometimes looks closer to dark purple through the bottle.

The white cream is the LacSol it’s like a gentle exfoliant that goes on gentle like a lotion.

Do not rub like an exfoliant it isn’t necessary.

Nice and gentle. YAY!!

If you notice your skin starts looking a bit crinkly or crepe do not become over concerned it is just that your underlayer skin is remodeling faster then the top layer can turn over.

Just back off using the peptides from every other morning and go back to once every third morning.

Every night after you clean your face apply a small amount of LacSol, wait 10 min use an alcohol-free toner plus your favorite night cream.

LacSol is only used at night.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation

I like this brand, it glides on, has high pigment so it covers well and doesn’t make me look 10 years Older. A little goes a long way.

What I like best about this product is that it doesn’t accentuate my fine lines and whatever imperfections. Oh, I forgot to mention Makeup Forever HD foundation doesn’t irritate my skin? Which is always a plus!!

Cinema Secrets Foundation

Cinema Secrets foundation is my main favorite foundation since I was in my 20’s, it is highly pigmented, beeswax based and doesn’t contain silicone like a lot of the foundations today. This foundation has been used in the movie industry since its creation over 20 years ago. I believe their pigments come in ever skin tone on the planet and if they do not have your perfect shade premade they will color match and blend a special one just for you to match your skin tone. Here is an excerpt from their blog about the creator of cinema secrets Maurice Stien:

Cinema Secrets PRO cosmetics was founded over 20 years ago by celebrity and award-winning makeup artist, Maurice Stein. Throughout the span of more than 50 years, Mr. Stein went from being one of the most sought-after makeup and Special FX artists in the biz to founder and creator of a professional makeup line that could be used by real-working artists and consumers alike. He has contributed to projects such as Academy Award-winning film, Planet of the Apes (1968) and has touched the faces of some of the biggest and brightest stars in Hollywood (and even 3 US presidents!)      Learn more about this amazing man, he is sincerely missed. We miss you Maurice!! Learn more here.

It’s a great product and I have used it for years with great success creating even flawless looking skin that doesn’t irritate my skin or absorb into my skin. The beeswax seems to keep it on top of the skin. I also like how my skin can still breath.

Quick Tip:

To remove cinema secrets foundation, wet skin, then apply grapeseed oil gently to your face. Wait a few minutes, then rinse your face repeatedly. Then cleanse face with normal cleansing routine.

As I mature I find it slightly more, challenging to gain a smoother look, so I use a primer to smooth out my skin before applying Cinema Secrets foundation and that has taken care of the problem. Super happy with this product. It is highly pigmented. I believe it is more so than HD Makeup up forever. A little truly goes a very very long way.  The price point is nice about $15-$25 or so. A .25 oz container lasts me about three months if I use it every day. Cinema Secrets is also known for having the best professional makeup brushes and brush cleaner for makeup artists. I have had my makeup brushes for over 20 years and they are still like new. Everything glides on and the brushes do not waste product, they take the minimal and deliver. 😉

Quick Tip:

Spray or dip your makeup brushes with cleaner and wipe back and forth gently on a tissue until clean, or you can use the metal container in the kit to clean your brushes in, it dries instantly. Love this product!! Has helped to kept my brushes in brandnew condition for the last 20 years!!

It’s pretty cool!! Their customer service is hit or miss depending on who is working that day. Oh yeah almost forgot to mention Cinema Secrets is also known for their special effects makeup especially around Holloween. It’s a huge seller!!

Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Mineral Moisturizer, 2 Fl Oz

Juice Beauty SPF 30 tinted mineral moisturizer is my go-to for my summertime face foundation. It smoothens out my skin making it look dewy and flawless. More transparent than Cinema secrets and Makeup Forever. Still, let’s my skin breath and evens out my skin tone. Very clean product not too pricey and works on sensitive skin.

L’Oreal Paris Tubed Mascara

Mascara irritates my eyes and I really hate how waterproof is so hard for me to get off my eyelashes and the delicate skin around my eyes. Trying to remove waterproof mascara feels like I am probably overstretching and damaging the delicate skin around my eyes. A big no-no for me… I was using Blinks which was the first line to make a lash mascara that creates tubes around the lashes and could be removed by wetting your lashes with water. Blinks cost about $25 a tube with another $15-$20 for the white fibers tube to pretreat the lashes in the hopes to make your lashes look thicker. The products work. However, L’Oreal tubed mascara does the same thing for under $9. So I Switched to L’Oreal Paris Tubed Mascara about six years and I haven’t had an allergic or noticed my lashes thinning out. So for now, I am very happy with L’Oreal tubed mascara.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Last Looks Cream Blush

I like the cream based blushes and cheek tints because I have dry and sensitive skin. Sticking to cream blushes and cream eyeshadows help moisturize and protect the skin. It also helps give the appearance of a dewy, more youthful look and should not cause your skin to dry out any further.

Clinique High Impact Lip Color

Clinique is a clean line and the lipstick shouldn’t dry out your lips or make them flakey. I Love the more traditional daytime colors. My favorite colors are in Rosette and Extreme Pink.

Make Your Own Primer

You can make your own primer by using Aragon oil with a very small dab of castor oil and/or blend for a creamy consistency with and added benefits with shea butter. I make mine every time I apply foundation so for me its a preference on how it feels so just play around with it until you find a consistency you like. Aragon oil and shea butter can be used as a stand-alone primer on your skin. The only warning is with the castor oil use a drop to your mixture. It likes to draw moisture to where ever it is applied so less is best.

  • You can apply your homemade primer under your face foundation and for under your eyeshadow.
  • Then wait 10 minutes then apply foundation wait another 10 minutes then apply makeup
  • Waiting the extra 10 minutes or the primer to absorb will allows the oil and foundation to set and improve the appearance of dry skin and help the makeup set nicely without looking crepe, caked or dried out.

Sometimes if I apply the foundation before the primer has had a chance to settle the foundation looks caked, cracked or chalky. So, it’s good to have patience.

Quick Recap:

Apply a mixture of aragon oil, shea butter and a dab of caster oil, rub together until smooth. Then apply to face and neck. Wait 10  minutes. Then apply foundation with sponge or brush. Wait another 20 minutes then apply your other beauty products, such as, contouring foundation colors lipstick or gloss, eyeshadow, creme blush and mascara etc.

The castor bean oil also acts as a natural exfoliant and draws moisture to the skin. Can use castor bean oil to naturally temporarily plumps the look of your lips. Castor bean oil is a nice natural lip plumper. Apply before lipgloss, lip balm or lipstick.

Powder Foundation

Bypass the foundation powder if you feel you need too. Personally, I find it makes my skin too dry, so I do not use it. I would be more inclined to use rice powder or rice paper to blot the shine. If you do decide to use foundation wait 10-20 minutes after you apply a creamy foundation in order to avoid caking, creasing and the chalky look.

My Face Hurts

When your makeup starts to bother your skin; Remove with grapeseed oil, wait 5-10 minutes and then reapply makeup if desired. Borrowed from “10 skin care tips for sensitive skin.”

How To use Grape Seed Oil to Remove Foundation

I later learned it was also a great way to remove makeup, especially beeswax based foundations.

  1. Moisten face with warm water then apply a thin layer of grapeseed oil with your fingertips.
  2. Wait 2-3 minutes then rinse off.
  3. Keep repeating the process until all makeup and foundation is removed.
  4. Then start your normal face cleansing process.

BONUS TIP:

Just found this lovely gem it is called Queen Bee Naturals Best Eye Balm Peeper Keeper. It claims to be an Eyelid Cream that Helps Reduce Crows Feet, Wrinkles & Fine Lines. Pure Anti-Aging, Restorative and moisturizes. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and noticed a difference within my first week of use. My eyes looked less tired, my fine lines started to fade down, puffiness went down, skin started smooth out, and the dark circles looked a lot better. It just keeps getting better. Best of all It contains 100% All Natural Ingredients: Olive oil, jojoba oil, unbleached beeswax, sunflower oil, avocado oil, carrot seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, shea oil, tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), coconut oil and oat oil. Oh did I forgot to mention that the price point is under $20 for 1.1 oz (at the time of this writing). Yay awesome results at an affordable price!

Conclusion

As you can see above having a sensitive skin can be rough. But as you have just read you can find some really affordable products you can actually use. However never forget that everyone has a different skin sensitivity and allergies so be responsive to how your skin reacts and keep adjusting until you find what works for you.
